William Rogers Award

2009 Recipient:
Kenneth T. Roth ’77, P ’12
As executive director of Human Rights Watch Kenneth Roth has conducted investigations around the globe, devoting special attention to gross abuses of human rights, military conduct, policies of the U.S. and the U.N., and responsibilities of multinational businesses. Under his leadership the organization has quadrupled in size, expanded its reach, and added special programs.

Anne Jones Mills ’60
An alumni leader for more than thirty years, Anne quickly rose through the ranks to become President of the Brown Alumni Association and Pembroke Council, as well as a member of Brown’s Corporation. [ More about this recipient ]
William A. Pollard ’50, P ’77 ’81 ’85, GP ’06 ’08 ’08 ’13
A loyal son of Brown, Bill Pollard has been active in all facets of alumni leadership. His passion, however, has been promoting the idea that a strong athletics department is a crucial part of the Brown undergraduate experience. [ More about this recipient ]
H. Anthony Ittleson ’60 Award
Given by the Brown Annual Fund to a volunteer or group of volunteers for extraordinary leadership

Teresa Gagnon Mellone ’39, ’62 AM, GP ’99
Teresa Gagnon Mellone both personifies and professes the “ever true” spirit of a Brown graduate. For seven decades she has stayed involved with her alma mater, serving in numerous volunteer capacities and taking great pride in her vigorous fundraising efforts. [ More about this recipient ]
John Hope Award for Public Service
For an alumna or alumnus who has made a significant impact in his/her community or society, and who demonstrates an unwavering commitment to public service either as a professional or a volunteer

Donald W. King ’93
Don King is founder and artistic director of the Providence Black Repertory Company. Since 1996, he has built that organization’s national reputation for innovative, vibrant performing arts with an aim “to inspire hope, create understanding, and bring people together.” [ More about this recipient ]
