BASC Volunteer Handbook

Thank you for volunteering for BASC, and welcome to the BASC Volunteer Handbook! The most important and most frequent contributions made by BASC volunteers are in the form of alumni interviews. This handbook should provide you with everything you need to effectively interview local applicants as well as offering additional resources for your other BASC responsibilities.

Conducting the Interview

Tips for Interviewing Students offers guidelines on setting up and conducting the interview, writing up the interview report, and submitting your forms.

Submitting your Interview Contact Form

Online or by mail or fax
If your interview assignment from your Area Chair arrived by e-mail, you were directed to the eBASC system on the alumni Web site to view your applicant’s information in your eBASC Volunteer Profile. We recommend and prefer that you submit your completed contact form online through the eBASC system. If you received a hard copy of your assignment via postal mail or fax, you can still submit your form on eBASC (see online instructions). You can also manually fill out the hard copy and fax or mail it back to Brown.

Following Up with Interviewees

Did your interviewee ask a number of questions that you were not able to answer? We have compiled a list of helpful links that may be of assistance. If you are still unable to find the information you require, contact us.

College Fairs

BASC Area Chairs will often ask volunteers to represent Brown at local college and career fairs. Read suggestions for how to prepare for a college fair, and learn about ordering materials for the fair you are planning to attend.
