Medical Insurance
Some risks are worth taking . . . but going without medical insurance isn’t one of them. The BAA partners with respected providers to offer medical insurance for special situations:
- Short Term Major Medical Insurance for new grads whose student health insurance just ended and for those without coverage due to unemployment, divorce, or waiting periods
- Travel Medical and Accident Insurance for people taking off for a foreign land where they're not covered
- Student Medical Insurance for full-time graduate students (and undergraduates, too!)
Short Term Major Medical Insurance
(From 30 days to 6 months, and up to 12 months in many states.)
Short Term Medical insurance (STM) is a major medical product that can meet the temporary health insurance needs of those in several situations:
- New grads no longer covered by school or parental policies
- Foreign students arriving in the United States before student insurance begins
- Those needing an alternative to COBRA
- People declining COBRA extensions because they cost too much
- Employees whose COBRA rights are of no value, such as those moving to an area not serviced by their former employer's HMO
- Those without COBRA rights
- Those whose COBRA extensions have expired
- Those not likely to be offered benefits, such as seasonal and temporary workers, part-timers, and some entry-level employees
- Those left without coverage by divorce or the death of a spouse
STM is often less expensive than alternatives. Contact our program administrator* for more details about STM, frequently asked questions, rates, or an application.
