The newly elected Officers of IPC were formally inducted on Saturday, November 1, 2008 following a series of events to honor the memory of the late Rhett S. Jones AM'72 PhD'76, Professor of Africana Studies and History and Research Director of the Rites and Reason Theatre. A memorial service for the late Rhett Jones was held at Manning Chapel, followed by the Inman Page Black Alumni Council (IPC) Forum, and the IPC Induction Ceremony and Reception at the Rites and Reason Theatre.

Committee Descriptions
Development:
Responsible for coordinating individual giving and special events among IPC membership.
Communications and Community-Building:
Responsible for creating structured flow of information within the IPC membership that results in greater awareness of IPC and a consistently high rate of participation.
Alumni Responsibility:
Responsible for creating opportunities for IPC and Brown to increase educational opportunities for Black people outside of Brown University, particularly in the Providence area.
Historian:
Responsible for IPC archives and is the embodiment of its institutional memory, ensuring continuity between the IPC BOG administrations by securing and sharing a documented record of IPC proceedings, activities, and all other significant moments in the life of the organization.
Black Alumni-Student Relations:
Responsible for maintaining bridges and an ongoing healthy relationship between Black alumni and Black students at Brown.
University Policy:
Responsible for advocating for progressive policy positions at the university that improve the quality of education at Brown as it relates to Black student life, admissions, faculty, and the curriculum.
