Campus Dance

Friday, May 23, 9 pm - 1 am

photoOne of Brown’s best-loved Reunion and Commencement traditions, the Campus Dance brings over 11,000 people to Brown to dance the night away under a sky lit with over 600 paper lanterns. The evening joins together graduating seniors and their families, alumni of all ages, and Brown faculty and staff. Everyone enjoys meeting old classmates, seeing favorite professors, and being with friends and family.

The Dance is a fun mix of people dressed in gowns and tuxedos and those dressed more casually in jeans or shorts. The evening ends with the Senior Sing – an informal and light-hearted rendition of Brown’s alma mater.

The College Green is transformed into an outdoor ballroom with a giant dance floor for swinging to the sounds of Duke Belaire and his Swing Orchestra, while Lincoln Field is for the young-at-heart, featuring two of Brown’s student bands. See photos from last year’s Campus Dance here.

Pre-Campus Dance Young Alumni Reception
8:00-10:00 pm

Young alumni (Classes of 2004-2007) are invited to a pre-Campus Dance cocktail reception organized by Brown’s Class Campaigns office. Stop by the tent outside of MacMillan Hall to catch up with your friends and former classmates, win Thayer Street goodies, and enjoy free drinks and appetizers. RSVP here.

Beverage Policy
The Brown Alumni Association, sponsor of the Dance, provides professionally-run bars serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Positive identification documenting legal age is required to purchase alcohol. Beverage ticket booths are located at each entrance and in both sections of the Dance. Consistent with Brown’s practice at all University events, patrons are not permitted to bring beverage containers of any kind into the Dance. All patrons are urged to exercise moderation, and to ensure their own and others’ safety by not drinking and driving. Patrons engaging in disorderly conduct or in violation of the Beverage Policy will be removed from the Dance. Thank you for your patronage and cooperation.

Purchase by Mail Starting March 31
The Campus Dance Box Office accepts mail orders for tables and tickets (no phone orders) beginning March 31. Mail orders must be paid for by credit card (no checks) and will be processed in the order they are received. Purchase in Person Starting May 14
photoThe Campus Dance Box Office opens May 14 for inperson ticket and table purchasing. The Box Office is located at the Maddock Alumni Center, 38 Brown Street on the Brown campus. Avoid lines at the dance by purchasing Campus Dance beverage tickets in advance. Beverage tickets will be sold under the Wriston Quad tent from noon to 7 pm on Friday, May 23.

Campus Dance is an outdoor event and will still be held even with the occurrence of light rain. However, in the unlikely event of severe weather with heavy rains, the Dance will be cancelled and refunds will be issued. (See the back of your purchased ticket for detailed information.)
