The Plan for Academic Enrichment

 International Partnership Will Promote Transnational Research and Learning
A series of Brown International Advanced Research Institutes, co-sponsored by the Spain-based Banco Santander, will convene young scholars from emerging markets and the global South. The program will also include study-abroad grants, internships, and Spanish language instruction for the Brown community. See story and photos.

 Brown Among Top U.S. Producers of Fulbrights
Brown ranked seventh in the nation and third in the Ivies for the number of Fulbright fellowships awarded for 2008-09, and its percentage of winners to applicants is second only to Yale’s. Twenty-one recent Brown graduates are currently studying abroad on Fulbright grants.

Many women are surprised to learn of the extent to which toxic exposure is caused by personal, in-home products such as cosmetics, plastics, and cleaners, says a study by sociologist Phil Brown and Rebecca Gasior Altman ’08 PhD.

 Football Clinches Championship with 41-10 Win*; 15 Players Honored
For the first time in Brown football history, departing seniors have won two Ivy League championships. Fifteen players earned All-Ivy honors this season—eight to the first team—and four were selected to the All-New England Team.

 Women’s Crew Sweeps Foot of the Charles
The women’s crew team won all three events and easily took the team title at the Foot of the Charles Regatta in Boston, marking the best team score for that race in school history and wrapping up the season with an impressive victory.
 Women’s Field Hockey Player Honored
Sara Eaton ’09 has been named Second Team Longstreth/NFHCA All-Northeast Region. She is Brown’s first All-Region selection since the 2006 season.
 Celebrating Brown Sports Foundation’s Silver Anniversary
The Brown University Sports Foundation chronicles their first 25 years and provides a vision for the future of Brown athletics in a new video.
