Campus Dance
Friday, May 28, 9 pm - 1 am
One of Brown’s best-loved Reunion and Commencement traditions, the Campus Dance brings over 11,000 people to Brown to dance the night away under a sky lit with over 600 paper lanterns. The evening joins together graduating seniors and their families, alumni of all ages, and Brown faculty and staff. Everyone enjoys meeting old classmates, seeing favorite professors, and being with friends and family.
The Dance is a fun mix of people dressed in gowns and tuxedos and those dressed more casually in jeans or shorts. The evening ends with the Senior Sing – an informal and light-hearted rendition of Brown’s alma mater.
The College Green is transformed into an outdoor ballroom with a giant dance floor for swinging to the sounds of Duke Belaire and his Swing Orchestra, while Lincoln Field is for the young-at-heart, featuring two of Brown’s student bands. See photos from last year’s Campus Dance here.
Ticket and Table Information
Tables of ten are located in the two sections of the Dance: the College Green and Lincoln Field. There are now more tables than ever (over 500 tables), but they do sell out and are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. We do our best to honor all location requests for tables. Tickets do not come with the purchase of a table. However, while you do not need a table to attend the Dance, you do need a ticket.
Pricing information and order forms will be available in February.
Brown Bear Buffet
5:30–8:30 pm
Before the Dance, enjoy a sumptuous buffet in the Sharpe Refectory. Enjoy hand-carved roast beef, chicken and pastas along with salad and desserts. Brown’s talented student a cappella groups perform during dinner. The buffet is sure to get you energized before you put on your dancing shoes! Tickets may be purchased in conjunction with Campus Dance tickets either by mail or at the Campus Dance Box Office.
Beverage Policy
The Brown Alumni Association, sponsor of the Dance, provides professionally-run bars serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Positive identification documenting legal age is required to purchase alcohol. Consistent with Brown’s practice at all University events, patrons are not permitted to bring beverage containers of any kind into the Dance. All patrons are urged to exercise moderation, and to ensure their own and others’ safety by not drinking and driving. Patrons engaging in disorderly conduct or in violation of the Beverage Policy will be removed from the Dance. Thank you for your patronage and cooperation.
Purchase by Mail Starting March 31
The Campus Dance Box Office accepts mail orders for tables and tickets (no phone orders) beginning March 31. Mail orders must be paid for by credit card (no checks) and will be processed in the order they are received. The deadline to receive the reduced advance ticket price via mail is May 14. New Grads: You’ll Soon be Members.
All Brown alumni are automatically lifelong members of the Brown Alumni Association (BAA). Thanks in part to proceeds from the Campus Dance, the BAA offers alumni the opportunity to keep learning from Brown faculty, to join and celebrate the diverse alumni community, and to volunteer for Brown. In addition, the BAA offers alumni valuable career support and financial services.
