In the aftermath of the Penn State child sex abuse scandal and unprecedented penalties from the NCAA, O’Brien rallied his players to win eight of their last ten games, exceeding all expectations. He credits his resilience in the face of adversity to his ten-year-old son, Jack, who suffers from a debilitating brain disorder and fights to survive every day of his life.
