Dear Brown Alumni and Friends,
I am pleased to announce that our full 2010 Brown Travelers season is now posted on our website, complete with trip dates, prices and other details. You can also download several trip brochures and request any printed brochure online. I hope you will take a moment to look at what’s new for 2010 and find something that interests you. In the meantime, I’d like to highlight a few of our upcoming fall/winter trips.
There’s still time to register for “Cultural Capitals of Russia” (November 1–9, 2009), our exploration of Moscow and St. Petersburg that’s perfect for anyone who wants to visit these two intriguing cities but does not want to be on a boat. Brown’s Alexander Levitsky, Professor of Slavic Languages, will accompany our group to this area that he knows well.
“Antiquities of Egypt” (February 25–March 8, 2010), our first trip of the new year, is an in-depth look at this fascinating part of the world. And who better to accompany our group than Lanny Bell, one of the world’s leading Egyptologists and a Visiting Scholar in Egyptology at Brown, who has conducted fieldwork in Egypt for over 40 years and led more than 50 group tours of the country.
If you’re thinking about an escape from cold weather, you should look closely at our final trip of the winter, to the “Galápagos Islands” (March 5–14, 2010). We’re bringing back this very popular and well-received partnership with Lindblad Expeditions, this time aboard the 96-passenger National Geographic Endeavour. Lindblad’s naturalists, along with Brown’s Karen Fischer, Professor of Geological Sciences, will help you gain a full understanding of this unique destination. And if you register soon, you can take 10% off the prices listed in the trip brochure.
For more information about these and any of our other trips, please visit our website or contact our office. I hope you will join us soon on a Brown Travelers educational adventure.
