About RSS

RSS, which stands for “Really Simple Syndication,” is a type of XML file that is used for syndicating web content through a podcast aggregator, or “podcatcher,” that reads and updates on a set basis. Content, including audio and video files, is automatically downloaded right to the user's computer through the aggregator with this RSS Feed.

Some podcatchers you might want to use include iTunes, Odeo, & Podcast Alley.

If you would like to download video podcasts to your iPod, you must use iTunes.

To manually subscribe to BAA Faculty Lecture podcasts in iTunes:

  1. Go to the “Advanced” menu in iTunes and choose “Subscribe to Podcast...”
  2. Paste this URL: http://alumni.brown.edu/learning/podcasts/BAAFacultyLectures.rss
    into the window that appears
  3. Click “OK.”

To subscribe to podcasts in any other podcatcher, use the same RSS Feed URL:
