Dear Fellow Alumni,
I am pleased to let you know that the Board of Directors of the Brown Club of Rhode Island has voted to renew our policy that all alumni are automatically members of the Club — no dues required. Your participation is the most important thing, and we agree that nothing should stand in its way. We hope you’ll join other alumni and guests for the arts and culture, music, dining, academics, sports, community service and family fun that we have in store for you in the coming year.
The Board and I want to thank all of you who, last year, opted to become the first Brown Club of Rhode Island Premium Members. Your contributions provided a very generous $2500 scholarship to Eli Fieldsteel ’08 who will be working toward a Master’s degree in music at the University of North Texas. Many of you were able to meet Eli and his parents at this year’s Annual Dinner and personally share their joy. All Premium Members should feel proud that we’ve helped send a very deserving, newly minted alum out into the world of “life after Brown”. We hope that you will renew your participation for the coming year and continue to support the Madeira Award. And, if you didn’t become a Premium Member last year, please do it now!
Benefits of Premium Membership include:
• Discounted admission to all Brown Club of Rhode Island events
• Complimentary admission to the Club’s annual Christmas reception
• Personal notification of all regular Club events
• Early notice of events where attendance is limited
• The heartfelt gratitude of the Club and the Department of Music !
An annual contribution of just $25 per person is all it takes to become a Premium Member of the Club. This contribution, in its entirety, will support our Jean and Francis Madeira Award. First year Brown alumni automatically receive Premium Membership status with our compliments. All Brown alumni, friends and relatives are eligible. I sincerely hope that you will choose to participate.
On a personal note, please keep in touch, and let me know your thoughts and ideas. Send e-mail correspondence to me at grsolomon@verizon.net. I look forward to hearing from you, and to seeing you at Club events in the coming year.
Ever true,
Gail Solomon ’76 President, 2008-09
