The Brown/Kenya Program began with the first medical rotation in 1996. Brown has been an integral Part of the ASSANTE Consortium with the Moi University School of Medicine and the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital. Brown faculty, residents and medical students do 1-2 month rotations at Moi during 2 dedicated months yearly and on an ongoing basis. Brown rotators staff the wards as well as teach at the medical school. Brown hosts Kenyan medical students, physicians and public health professionals for advanced training. In addition to the exchange, Brown is involved in research programs and public health disease identification, treatment and control efforts including the development of AMPATH, the largest
HIV care program in East Africa. Many program participants are actively engaged in the provision of medical supplies, programmatic support and significant philanthropic contributions.

Providence Singers Festival Performances

Please join us in supporting the Providence Singers by visiting their site www.providencesingers.org and considering purchasing a ticket for one of the many festival performances scheduled for this spring. This festival is full of heartland harmony, American optimism and musical voicing of America's great poets.

The Providence Singers was founded by Bob Molison, Brown Chorus director in the early 1970s. The chorus has now grown to over 100 voices, and performs not only its own series of concertsbut also as guest artist with ensembles such as Rhode Island Philharmonic, the Kronos Quartet, the Dave Brubeck Quartet, and the Boston Pops. Bob founded the group in 1971 with two Brown graduate students, Glenn Giuttari and John Duffy -- thirty-five years and they're still going strong!
