Our Organization:
The Brown Club of Rhode Island is run by a volunteer Board of Directors all of whom are graduates of the University. The Board organizes a broad range of events throughout the year including lectures by Brown Faculty, social events for alumni and information sessions for potential students. The BCRI is one of the University's most active alumni clubs serving over 6,000 alumni in the Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts areas.
Our Mission:
Our Mission as a Club includes:
- The initiation and encouragement of activites which promise to further the welfare and interests of Brown and contribute to the overall betterment of the individual alumnus.
- To enlighten alumni regarding the changing nature of the Brown experience in terms of social, educational and humanistic matters. This will futher help to develop an alumni body that is well informed and effective in furthering the goals of the University.
- To influence outstanding young men and women to select Brown for an undergraduate education.
- To offer programs of common alumni interest that stimulate thought and promote a sense of camaraderie.
- To foster a continuing relationship with undergraduates so that they may someday play an active role as an alumnus.
- To maintain the Club's Francis Madeira scholarship that supports a local Brown student in the Music Department.
- To serve the local community as a positive influence.
