Support BUAAHK!

One of BUAAHK's main aims is to advance the reputation of Brown in the local community, especially in relation to BASC's recruiting activities. Your membership dues are the primary source of funding for important activities such as the annual acceptance and send-off parties for new Brown students, in order to attract the highest caliber students from Hong Kong.

BUAAHK also aims to maintain a cohesive and vibrant network of alumni and friends in Hong Kong. In the past few years, we have organized such activities as:

- bi-monthly alumni mixers
- quarterly keynote speaker luncheons with people such as Joyce Ma and Elsie Leung
- Sotheby's gallery walk to preview items in their fall auction
- dinner with visiting Brown professors and with Brown President Ruth Simmons
- Brown Book award to recognize outstanding high school students at 17 Hong Kong schools
- movie night at Pacific Place
- alumni and current student BBQs
- Ivy League Ball, MIT Sports Day

Your membership helps us attract the highest caliber students and continue to organize these activities.  If you haven't already, join BUAAHK today!

Lots of Events this Year

We're excited about the upcoming events for 2009, including a mixer with the Jabberwocks. Check out our Events section for information about upcoming mixers, talks and more.

Calling all Dedicated Alumni!

If you are interesting in volunteering for BUAAHK, we are looking for chairs for Alumni Events and alumni who would be willing to speak to younger alumns at casual industry-specific career lunches. Please email us for more information.

Recruiting Future Brunonians

Dear Fellow Alumni,

Brown is more popular than ever. This year there are over 18,000 applicants seeking admission to Brown. A group of volunteer alumni, known as BASC, attempt to interview all the students who've applied to Brown.

Patricia Huen and I are the Area Chairs for Hong Kong, where applicants to Brown have increased substantially over the past several years. To cope with this growth we welcome help from additional volunteers.  If you are residing in Hong Kong and have some time and love for your alma mater, please sign up to participate in this wonderful activity.  Meet interesting young adults who are possibly the future of Brown University. If you're interested email me.  I can answer any questions you have and help get you set up for your first interview.  If you can't participate this year, we'd love to have you on the team for next year.   For those of you who are already BASC volunteers, thank you!

Sincerely,
Ronna Chao Heffner ‘89
