Alumni Trustee Background
The Corporation of Brown University is comprised of twelve Fellows and up to forty-two Trustees. Fourteen of these Trustees are nominated by the Alumni Association through its elections and elected by the Corporation. Trustees serve staggered six-year terms.
The Corporation is responsible for establishing broad policies for the operation of the institution, selecting a President and appointing other administrative officers and faculty members, and for managing the funds and holding the real estate of the University.
Alumni trustees participate as full members of the Corporation, serving on one or more standing committees. Trustees also support the University in other ways, including making Brown a philanthropic priority.
